St. Pete: Dayle Coyne Racing qualifying report

Alex Lloyd Qualifies Boy Scouts of America #19 IndyCar in 22nd Position

St. Petersburg, Florida (March 27, 2010) - It was an up and down day for the Boy Scout of America IndyCar and driver Alex Lloyd during qualifying on Saturday.

Alex will start 22nd in tomorrow's Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, after several unfortunate incidents dampened what started as a promising day for the team.

In the morning practice, significant changes were made to the car enabling Alex to drive much quicker with increased speed. It would be that speed that caused the No. 19 car to get a bit wide in turn eight and hit the outside wall ending the morning session early.

The Dale Coyne Racing team worked hard to repair the left side front, rear suspension damage and some slight gearbox damage. The car was ready just in time for the afternoon qualifying session.

Once Alex was back on the track, he was able to improve his overall times in qualifying. On the first yellow flag of the session the team made some more positive adjustments. Alex was significantly quicker and was working on his fastest lap of the day when an electrical problem related to the gearbox would end his qualifying effort early.

"The car was by far the best it had been all weekend," commented Lloyd. "I really think we would have been able to transfer into the top 12 if not for the events of today. I am really looking forward for tomorrow's race, and I will Be Prepared."

Alex's starting position may create a different strategy for tomorrow's race.
