Chip Ganassi Makes History: Chip Ganassi became the only team owner in history to win both the Daytona 500 and Indianapolis 500 in the same year when Dario Franchitti claimed his second Indianapolis 500 title last weekend. When Jamie McMurray and Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates won the Daytona 500 earlier this year, Ganassi joined Roger Penske in an elite class as the only two team owners to have won both the Indianapolis 500 and Daytona 500. No team owner had ever won both of the prestigious races in the same year.
Scott Dixon and the No. 9 Target Team
Dixon Hopes to Surpass Hornish Jr. - Again: Dixon only needs to lead 232 laps to surpass Sam Hornish Jr. to become the series' all-time lap leader. Dixon surpassed Hornish Jr.'s record of most IZOD IndyCar Series wins last year when he won his 20th race at Mid-Ohio.
Points: With his fifth place finish at the Indianapolis 500, Dixon currently sits third in the championship standings -- just 24 points behind leader Will Power.
Texas Rewind: Dixon has claimed one win, one pole, four top-fives, six top-10s and has led 121 laps at Texas Motor Speedway. He dominated the race in 2008 by leading 58 of 228 laps after starting from the pole to score his third win of the season. Dixon scored another solid finish at the track last year when he qualified third and finished third to claim his third podium finish of the season.
Season Rewind: In the first six races of the season, Dixon has gathered four top-fives and five top-10s. Dixon dominated the first oval race of the season by leading 167 laps at Kansas to earn his first victory of 2010.
Dario Franchitti and the No. 10 Energizer Team
Energizer Keeps Going and Going: Dario Franchitti returns to Texas Motor Speedway for the second consecutive year with the Energizer paint scheme. He qualified the No. 10 Energizer car on the pole last year and went on to finish fifth. Dixon has won three total races for Energizer-- which were all part of three-win stretches at a track. In 2006, Dixon won at Watkins Glen in the Energizer car where he was the winner there from 2005-2006-2007. In 2007 and 2008 Dixon won at Nashville Superspeedway where he was the winner there from 2006-2007-2008.
History at Texas: Franchitti will drive the No. 10 Energizer car this weekend for the Firestone 550K. In six starts at the track he has tallied three top-fives and four top-10s. He started from the pole in 2004 & 2009. His earned his best finish at the track in 2004 when he finished second after starting from the pole.
A Look Back on 2010: Franchitti has had four top-fives and five top-10s over the last six races with his best finish coming at Indianapolis when he won his second Indianapolis 500 mile race. With his win at Indianapolis, Franchitti jumped to second in the championship standings -- just 11 points behind leader Will Power.
