Dillon Battistini reflects on his top 10 finish in the Chicagoland 100 with no brakes.

Chicago, IL. -- Dillon Battistini drove a brave race for last weekend's Chicagoland 100 at Chicagoland Speedway placing 9th...without any brakes!

You may be forgiven for thinking you don't need brakes on an oval, however you have to consider racing at 190mph surrounded by other cars which sometimes check up in front of you, plus caution periods being thrown. Not having the ability to slow down in these cases is definitely an issue!

Dillon was soon up to speed, working with his engineer Don Bricker during the Friday and Saturday practice sessions. He ran consistent fast laps and often he was the fastest on the track. A few niggling problems prevented the team from running a fast qualifying pace, however, they were very confident of the race pace.

Both Battistini and the Team were frustrated as they knew the car was definitely a front runner.

Battistini is hopeful of an opportunity for the Kentucky and Homestead races whilst trying to finalise a full program for 2011.

Dillon Battistini, Driver No. 35 Indy Lights Series car:

"That was incredibly frustrating! I had no problems getting quickly up to speed after my break from driving a race car. However, having no brakes in the race was a hair-raising experience though. I simply could not get stuck in the way I like to because other cars sometimes check up or lose momentum and there is no way I could slow down to avoid them with the pack so tight. I was forced to hang back and just bring the car home in one piece. I want to thank all the sponsors who supported the weekend, I know they all had lots of fun and a great time"

Ron Dixon, President of Palm Beach Indy Racing

"I know Dillon is very disappointed with the problems he experienced with the car and the Team felt bad about the outcome especially when we had a car to win. The sponsors were excited and their comment to me this morning was "WOW" thank you so much. I want to ensure Dillon has a fair crack of the whip next time."
