Fan Force United aims to begin reconnecting to their fan base with a fun, fan-focused outreach
Having recently announced their return to the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires series for 2014 with Mazda Road To Indy veteran Scott Anderson, Fan Force United aims to begin reconnecting to their fan base with a fun, fan-focused outreach.
With the first of a number of fan-focused initiatives that Fan Force United will be implementing for the 2014 racing season, the team is giving racing fans the opportunity to vote on three different proposed liveries for their 2014 Indy Lights car. To participate is as easy as 1-2-3. Simply go to www.fanforceunited.com, scroll to the bottom of the page, and indicate if you “love” or “hate” the three liveries. This crowd-sourced team decision was introduced during the Rolex 24 at Daytona, which is typically considered to be the kick-off of the racing season.
Speaking to this fan outreach, team principal Chris Williams said “A lot of people took notice of our concerted efforts to connect with the fans during our last season. We wanted to kick off our 2014 season by continuing to connect in a way that shows Indy fans that we really do want them to be part of our team in a meaningful way. Allowing our fans and supporters to choose how our car will look seemed like a fun way to kick off that effort, and it’s been great to see the response so far.”
Adding to that, longtime sponsor and newly added team principal Tim Donahue noted that “Something like this is just a no-brainer.” He added that “For the good of the sport, racing teams simply have to take steps to get fans more involved and more invested. As a lifelong racing fan, and knowing that a team’s identify is connected to the look of its cars, this is the type of thing that would get me just a little bit more excited and enthusiastic about a team and a driver.”
Echoing the thoughts of his two partners, Tyce Carlson added “From the start, we have wanted to be known as the ‘fan’s team’. If it’s in our name, then it has to be reflected in what we do as well. So the way we figure it, giving fans some options and the opportunity to tell us how they want our car to look makes a ton of sense. We want racing fans to know that we’re here for them, and we want them to be here for us as well. Hopefully it means that we’ll have more people pulling for us and Scott throughout the season.”
