GUTHRIE MEYER RACING READY TO BUILD ON SOLID OPEN TEST
GMR launches new website for the 2009 season.

HOMESTEAD, Fla. -- Guthrie Meyer Racing took part in the first official open test of the 2009 Firestone Indy Lights season, and Ali Jackson drove his No.59 Dallara to the second fastest time on the speed chart after holding the top spot for most the morning.

"We had some great track conditions early in the morning, and Ali drove a great lap time that held up as the fastest lap for most of the morning before another car got us by a couple tenths of a second," said Butch Meyer, co-owner of GMR. "I was extremely pleased with all four of the guys who drove our cars this weekend. We still have some work to do, but I'm confident going into St. Pete in just over a month."

"Our times were very consistent today," said Ali Jackson. "I was really happy with the car all day, even after a couple of mechanical issues. I have no doubt we are going to get even better leading up to the season opener."

Indy Lights veteran Sean Guthrie drove his familiar blue and yellow No.4 machine to 12th on the speed charts, but was battling several problems throughout the day of testing.

"I'm definitely disappointed that we couldn't get more speed out of our car today, but we are going to be working hard in the next few weeks to be ready for the debut at St. Petersburg," said Sean Guthrie, who is looking to compete for the Indy Lights Championship title this season after finishing inside the top ten in points last season.

Canadian brothers Jesse and Nelson Mason also tested a GMR car at the Homestead-Miami Speedway this week. Jesse Mason, 24, competed in the Indy Lights in 2004, and is looking to come back to the Indy Lights and compete on a full-time program. Nelson Mason, 21, will be a rookie this season, and completed his rookie-testing program at the Homestead-Miami Speedway on Saturday.

"Overall we had a good test this week," said Jim Guthrie, co-owner of GMR. "We got to know the Mason's really well, and we're looking forward to working with them in the future. I'm definitely confident that this team is going to be a top contender this season, and we're looking forward to getting the season started."
