Houston Team KOOL Green qualifying report

Houston, TX. (Sept 29th, 2000) Jonny Kane took to the streets of Houston, Texas for this weekend's Texaco Havoline GP of Houston Dayton Indy Lights race. Jonny was quickest round the 1.53-mile street course in this morning's free practice session and went into first qualifying feeling confident of a provisional front row.

Kane was second quickest when an incident between Tony Renna and Andy Boss caused the session to be stopped just as Kane had gone out on new tyres. The session restarted with only four minutes remaining hence Jonny decided not to go out and save his tyres for tomorrow's qualifying. His time of 1:06.389 seconds fell to sixth but he is positive that times will improve tomorrow.

Jason Bright took the provisional pole with a time of 1:05.964 seconds. Geoff Boss was second quickest (1:06.035 seconds) and Mario Dominguez third (1:06.223 seconds).

"It is looking promising as we were quickest this morning and second quickest just before we stopped for the red flag. Now we have two new sets of tyres for tomorrow so we will have to decide whether to keep them both for qualifying or run one set in free practice. We didn't go out at the end as we decided that we could probably go quicker than we had already but I didn't think that we would get the very best out of the tyres. There is only a couple of laps when you can get a good time out of them so I think it is better to save them for a good go tomorrow. We are in good shape but it is going to be very close tomorrow. "
