(Indianapolis, IN) – A group of Invensys-Powerware staff and clients have finally recovered from the opening round of the Dayton Indy Lights Championship in Long Beach California last month and are planning for round two at the Milwaukee Mile in Wisconsin this weekend.

Invensys-Powerware celebrated their week-old naming-rights sponsorship of the #17 PacWest Lights machine of Scott Dixon with a victory in the opening round of the championship on the temporary street course in Southern California on April 16.

Many of the company’s corporate guests were attending a motorsport event for the first time at Long Beach and soaked-up the atmosphere and jubilation that only a win in this sport can provide.

The champagne could be flowing again on Sunday if times from an open test at Milwaukee this afternoon are any indication of what we can expect.

Invensys Power Systems, comprised of leading brands Best Power and Powerware, is a $2.5 billion global leader in the power protection industry offering complete management solutions for enterprise-wide applications - from single workstations and networks to robust data centers. Solutions encompass uninterruptible power systems (UPS), power management software and global service, giving customers both the flexibility and dependability critical in today's business environments.

The Invensys-Powerware partnership was finalized the week before the Long Beach opener and the company’s official signage placed on the sharp-looking red and white machine the day before the opening practice session of the season.

“We are thrilled to be a part of the entire PacWest operation which is obviously one of the most professional in the sport,” said Powerware’s Director, Marketing and Communications, Eldrina Bramblett.

“Myself and all our guests had a very productive day at the track and then Scott (Dixon) topped it all off by bringing home the Invensys-Powerware car in first place.

“We have always seen our relationship with PacWest Racing as long term and hopefully Long Beach will just be the start of future success for all of us on and off the track. We cannot get to Milwaukee quick enough to see our car going around.”

Performances in an open test session at Milwaukee today by both Dixon and his PacWest teammate Tony Renna, driver of the #18 Motorola Lights car, indicated that both drivers will be on the pace again this weekend.

Dixon was second at the end of the day and parked his car 15 minutes before the completion of the second session.

“I was pretty pleased with the car straight out of the box,” said Dixon.

“We messed around with front-end grip on the new tires.

“I still think there is plenty of time left in the car, which points to a pretty good day tomorrow.”

Renna was sixth at the end of the day and believes he can also be challenging for the front row for Sunday’s race if some handling problems can be cured.

“We started out OK, but then made some moves which sent us in the wrong direction,” said Renna, who has had better results at Milwaukee than any other track in the series.

“This place has been pretty good to me in the past – I don’t know why that is.

“We will find the problem tomorrow and be ready for a strong run in qualifying.”

The second round of the Dayton Indy Lights Championship will be a support event to the Miller Lite 225 – the sixth round of this year’s FedEx Championship Series for Champ Cars.
