Ed Carpenter will start from the pole position in Saturday's Chicagoland 100 Infiniti Pro Series race. Carpenter will make history this weekend as the first driver to compete in the Infiniti Pro Series and IndyCar Series at the same event.

After turning a lap at 220.968 mph in his Indy car, 15th fastest lap of the day, Carpenter climbed into his Pro Series car, recording a lap at 189.057 mph to earn the third Pro Series pole of his career.

Series points leader Mark Taylor will start second with a qualifying speed of 188.597 mph. Coming into the Chicagoland event, Taylor leads Jeff Simmons 364- 308 with three races remaining on the schedule.

Aaron Fike, who won his first Pro Series race at Pikes Peak International Raceway in June, will start third.

Arie Luyendyk will start fourth followed by G.J. Mennen, who has raced in the Winston West Series and the Craftsman Truck Series. On Saturday, Mennen will make his fifth Pro Series of 2003.

Mennen earned his best starting position of the season after turning a lap at 186.691 mph. Mennen's car is being engineered by Mark Weida, who recently left Sarah Fisher's IndyCar team.

Thiago Medeiros will start sixth followed by Cory Witherhill in seventh. Gary Peterson, Taylor Fletcher and Marco Cioci round out the top ten.

Chicagoland Speedway will hosts two races on Saturday with the ReadyHosting.com 200 for the ARCA cars getting underway at 12:00 noon. The Chicagoland 100 for the Infiniti Pro Series takes the green flag at 3:15 p.m.
