Best Friends' Prendeville Qualifies Ninth at Chicagoland

JOLIET, Ill., Sept. 8 - Andrew Prendeville qualified ninth in the Best Friends Animal Society No. 5 Saturday at Chicagoland Speedway.

He'll start on the inside of Row 5 beside Stephen Simpson in the Indy Pro Series season finale Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Eastern time by virtue of his qualifying lap of 29.1495 seconds for the 1.5-mile oval (187.722 miles per hour).

The Morristown, N.J.-based driver will do his best to complete all 67 laps of Sunday's race to raise as much money as possible for the Best Friends Animal Society's important work for animal welfare. Fans make donations based on the number of laps Prendeville completes in each race through a Web site at racinglapsforbestfriends.com.

A raffle for 2008 Indy 500 tickets is also offered on that Web site.

Prendeville hasn't competed at Chicagoland Speedway prior to this weekend. In fact, the first time he saw the facility was Saturday morning. Despite that he said he feels comfortable at the track, and that he has a good car for Sunday's race.
