Indy Pro Series Driver Mishael Abbott Chases Dream of Winning Big at Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (May 22, 2006) -- While Mishael Abbott is preparing to race in her second attempt at the Indy Pro Series Freedom 100, she also finds time to repeat her spotting duties for IndyCar® Series driver Jaques Lazier and make personal appearances around Indianapolis. Mishael will race in the Freedom 100 for Michael Crawford Motorsports and spot for Playa Del Racing's driver, Lazier.

"I found out that I will be the lead spotter for Jaques Lazier," Abbott said. "Unlike last year in Turn 3, this year I will be in Turn 1, so it will be really neat to see the field of 33 take the green flag. Being able to watch the IndyCars on the course is a great learning experience for me," Abbott added.

That experience will come in handy as she competes in the Indy Pro Series Freedom 100 on Friday, May 26, 12:30 p.m. (EDT)

The Indy Pro Series is the premier ladder series for drivers, teams, and sponsors striving to compete in the IndyCar® Series and the Indianapolis 500®. Coral Springs Florida native Mishael Abbott is pursuing dual degrees from Florida Atlantic University in elementary education and currently resides in Indianapolis while studying sports marketing at the University of Indianapolis.

Quotes from Mishael Abbott:

"Being a spotter is pretty easy. I've heard it so much in my ears over the years that it came pretty naturally to me last year. Jaques likes to hear the same stuff as me. We both don't like a lot of chatter, just the important stuff."

"It's been great watching Jaques, but I'm REALLY ready to get out on the track! I can't wait until Thursday's practice and qualifying--not to mention the race on Friday."

"Even though I've yet to hit the track, I've got plenty going on. I'm submitting a journal to the Boca Raton News to chronicle my entire experience during the month. Last Thursday was a day for the kids. An elementary class that I met last year came back to the track to see me. That evening, I visited the Riley Children's Hospital's Race Party. It was a fun night of arts and crafts with the kids. There's been a flurry of activity all month."

"Since I moved to Indianapolis, I haven't been able to spend much time with my parents. I'm looking forward to Tuesday because they are driving my motor coach up from Florida and it will certainly be nice to see them again.
