IPS: Texas finale title sponsor named

BG Products to sponsor Infiniti Pro Series race at Texas.

FORT WORTH, Texas, Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002 -- BG Products, Inc. will sponsor the Indy Racing Infiniti Pro Series race Sept. 14 at Texas Motor Speedway, becoming the first event sponsor for the new Indy Racing League development series.

The BG Products 100 will take place at 3 p.m. (CDT) Sept. 14 on the 1.5-mile oval, one day before the season-ending Chevy 500 for the Indy Racing League.

"We're happy to welcome BG Products as the sponsor for the inaugural event at Texas Motor Speedway," said speedway general manager Eddie Gossage. "We are also excited to be hosting the Pro Series at Texas. The series has received much attention this year and rightfully so with a number of talented drivers competing."

BG Products, located in Wichita, Kan., manufactures and distributes a broad line of specialty lubricants, greases, chemicals and service equipment throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Far East.

The company has been involved as a team sponsor with Sam Schmidt Motorsports and LP Racing in the IRL for several years and with Schmidt's Infiniti Pro Series operation this year.

Fans can see the future stars of the Indy Racing League, including A.J. Foyt IV, Arie Luyendyk Jr., Ed Carpenter and others competing in the BG Products 100. The race is the season finale of the new development program, completing a seven-race schedule in its inaugural year.
