Australia's Champ Car Series hopeful Jason Bright started his 2000 Indy Lights campaign in promising fashion, with an excellent test at California's Buttonwillow Raceway on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Bright set a time of 55.97 seconds believed to be the first Indy Lights driver to enter the 55 second bracket.

An excellent two days testing saw Bright post the fastest time of the trio competing for Dorricott Racing this year. Testing is all about learning and Bright feels that both he and team have learnt many things over the past two days testing.

"It is great to start the year on a positive note and I think that I owe this to being with arguably the best Indy Lights team. Having only raced at one of the circuits previously, I will be calling upon as much of the teams knowledge as possible."

Bright retired from his position as an Australian V8 Supercar driver for the Pirtek Racing team last November to fulfill his International racing ambitions.

"It was certainly a big gamble at the time and something that required maximum commitment to achieve. Fortunately I have many great people helping me behind the scenes to help turn this dream into reality" said Bright.

"Racing this year in the Dayton Indy Lights Championship is only half of the dream of course and there is much more hard work ahead when trying to make the next step into Champ Cars for 2001" Bright added.

The Dayton Indy Lights Championship travels with the CART World Series throughout the United States for a 12 round series, culminating with the final round in Aruba the Caribbean.

Dorricott Racing will test next week at Pahrump Raceway, Nevada, followed by a further test at Firebird Raceway, Phoenix, in preparation for the first round of the Dayton Indy Lights Championship at Long Beach, Los Angeles.
