Herdez-Pegaso-backed driver Mario Domínguez will start from the sixth spot, the Tenneco Automotive Grand Prix of Detroit, after setting a 1'22.407 lap during second qualifying session.
Mario Domínguez, Car #7, Herdez/Pegaso Team: "I was happy with the car. It was running well, we were in the top five and I thought that eventually we would be in the top three, but I lost the car. I lost the rear end at Turn 4 and I hit the tire barrier. I fell sorry for my crew, because they worked hard and gave me a good car. I made a mistake when I was trying hard to improve my times and mistakes cost us a better position."
Ramiro Fidalgo, engineer for the Herdez/Pegaso Team: "When a driver tries hard, like Mario (Domínguez), accidents can happen. However, we were able to get a good set up for the car before the qualifying session and I think we can do it again for the race."
