Herdez-Pegaso-backed driver Mario Domínguez qualified 11 for the Freightliner/G.I. Joe's 200 Presented by Texaco race. He improved in more than one second his Friday's best time (1'07.159), with a lap-time of 1'05.951.
Mario Domínguez, Car #7, Herdez/Pegaso Team: "Unfortunately, we could not find a good setting for the car. Until the last qualifying session we were a little bit closer to the fastest times. I think we could do it better, but we encountered some traffic. Also a misunderstanding in the time left in qualifying hurt us. I am sad, because I wanted to get a better result, because my Grandma (Blanca Rosa Domínguez), died recently and I wanted to dedicate my performance to her. She always supported me and she raised me. I hope I can do it better tomorrow."
Ramiro Fidalgo, engineer for the Herdez/Pegaso Team: "We are trying hard to get a good balance for Mario's car. Mainly the lack of grip is hurting us."
