(Milwaukee, Wi) – PacWest Racing will go into tomorrow’s qualifying session full of confidence after strong practice results for the second round of the Dayton Indy Lights Championship at the Milwaukee Mile in Wisconsin today.
Championship leader Scott Dixon was second fastest in the #17 Invensys-Powerware PacWest entry and believes he still has a couple of tenths up his sleeve for qualifying.
Tony Renna, driver of the #18 Motorola PacWest machine, was 13th fastest after battling a handling problem, but is confident his team can make the right changes overnight to put him among the leading few cars when the green flag drops on Sunday.
Renna made his debut for PacWest Racing at Milwaukee last season and qualified second before going on to finish third.

Morning Session: 24.053s – 2nd; Afternoon: 24.327s - 2nd – Combined: 2nd
“In the afternoon session we went from a low to high down force and the car was a lot better,” said Dixon.
“In fact, I think we have the aero (aerodynamics) very close.
“We tried to free up the car a little, but we battled with the traffic and could not really get a clear run so we could do any true comparisons.
“I think everything is looking good for tomorrow’s qualifying and for Sunday’s race if everything goes to plan.”

“We are still trying to find the right set-up,” said Renna.
“We were quick here last year and a couple of weeks ago at a test, but there is certainly something missing at the moment.
“At the moment the team is getting all our previous results together to do an overall comparison and to see if we can find a solution.
“I just don’t have any confidence in the rear end and that is not a good thing around here.
“I am confident we are only one small step away, but at this time we still have to decide in which direction that step is.”
* The second round of the Dayton Indy Lights Championship will be shown on ESPN2 at 7pm on Sunday.
