"The car was good and overall it was a good session for us," said Wheldon. "I made a little mistake on my first set of tires - I went off on the grass and then it took awhile for the safety crew to clean up. Hopefully we'll do better tomorrow, but being in the front row is pretty good. We'll work on the set-up some more tonight and I'm confident we can close the gap going into second round of qualifying tomorrow."

"Obviously, I'm a little disappointed with my time," said Dominguez. "We were not very fast today. We made some minor changes and we put new tires on the car, but the speed was no better than with the old tires. My engineers will work on the set-up tonight and hopefully we'll be faster for second round qualifying tomorrow. I'm very confident with my car and my team, and once we make the changes we'll improve making the car faster."
