Growing up in Plauen, Mario's first visits to a racetrack naturally took place at the Schleizer Dreieck during the 1980s. In 1989 he was finally infected with the racing buzz, following Formula 1 and 500cc motorcycle racing on TV. From the beginning of the 90s, when channels like Eurosport along with relevant racing literature became available, there was no turning back. Even though F1 and 500cc continued to be followed, Mario's main focus of interest from then on has been on CART and NASCAR. And what used to be a hobby for years - before, during and after studying media informatics - has been the job as motorsports editor since 2011. Following five years of coverage for Motorsport-Total.com from Munich, Mario migrated to the USA. Since 2016 he reports from Miami for Motorsport.com, and since 2017 also again for Motorsport-Total.com, on IndyCar and NASCAR, plus MotoGP and various other racing series. Besides, he worked as a TV commentator for the NASCAR broadcasts on Motorvision TV. When there's no racing action, you can find Mario without an engine in Miami Beach on the beach.
