That Norman would earn his money by doing "something with texts" one day was pretty clear when he won a German reading championship at the age of just twelve. After various internships at regional newspapers he went on to study journalism at Magdeburg university, writing sports news for an online publication along the way. His bachelor's thesis about backmarkers in Formula 1 showed his future direction. No, not to the back, but into Formula 1. In 2012 he joined Motorsport-Total.com. He may have grown out of the coverage on junior formula since, but the heart of the Thuringian is still strongly attached to Formula 2, Formula 3 and Formula E. And of course to the backmarkers in Formula 1.
