PSERRA RACING HEADS TO CIK KZ1 WORLD CUP

Pserra Racing pilot Michael Vincec enters KZ1 Shifter class at World Cup event in Italy under the Birel Italy banner.

Pserra Racing will head to Italy this weekend to prepare to contest the CIK FIA World Cup in the ultra competitive KZ1 class. The Ontario-based Birel Team will join the Birel factory team for the event to take on the world's best shifter kart pilots. The event will take place at the track in Sarno-Napoli, Italy from September 3rd to 6th. The 1,700m long track is especially well suited to shifter karts and will make for some incredible racing action.

The field will have all the best KZ racers including current two-time World Champion Jonathan Thonon. Also in the field will be current F1 drivers Robert Kubica of BMW-Sauber running his RK Kart and Jaime Alguersauri of Renault F1on an Intrepid kart. Kubica will tent under the Birel factory tent working with the company that is building his RK Kart.

"It has been part of our plan from the start to take Canadian drivers to Europe to race against the world's best drivers," comments Peter Serravalle, team principal of Pserra Racing. "What they will bring back to the team in terms of experience and knowledge will benefit everyone under our tent."

Vincec will be the only Canadian in the field 78 of driver looking to take the title of world's best. This marks Vincec's second trip to Europe to compete in a gearbox class, having competed in KZ2 in 2008. This will be the first time the 2008 Stars of Karting ICC Champion will race in KZ1, one level up from KZ2 he raced last year. To gain entry into the top level KZ1 a driver must meet a strict criteria to secure the necessary licensing to compete.

"I am really looking forward to heading back to Europe to race in the premier KZ1 class," states Vincec. "There is no one missing from the list of entries with as many as five World Champions in the field."

Off track the Pserra Racing crew continue to put final touches on their new retail facility and engine shop with a Grand Opening scheduled for mid September. Pserra Racing's full range of products including Beta Tools, MyChron, Birel and more will be showcased at the shop.
