MSA congratulates Jake Dennis on becoming first ever CIK-FIA "U18" World Karting Champion
The Motor Sports Association (MSA) congratulates Jake Dennis on beating an international field of competitors to become the first ever CIK-FIA "U18" World Karting Champion.
Racing Steps Foundation-backed Dennis took the title with eighth place at Val d'Argenton in France, having won the first round at Wackersdorf in Germany and finished fifth in round two at Alcaniz in Spain.
Dennis, 15 from Leicestershire, said: "I was shouting inside my helmet as I went over the line; it felt unbelievable to become the World Champion and it's definitely my biggest karting achievement so far. Along with the Racing Steps Foundation and my MSA British Junior Kart Championship title it should move my career a good chunk forward."
Fellow Briton and round two winner Adam Stirling, 15 from Moira in Northern Ireland, secured third place in the final standings. Also flying the Union Flag were Sam Snell, Jordan Chamberlain, Henry G Easthope, Alexander Walker and Jake Lloyd.
Supporting the "U18" Championship this year has been the new CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy. Former MSA British Cadet Kart Champion, Roy Johnson, was selected by the MSA to represent the UK against more than 30 national motor sport governing bodies, and he ended the season in a fine sixth place overall.
MSA Chief Executive Colin Hilton said: "I am delighted that we now have another British World Champion in Jake, further bolstering the UK's position as the world leader in motor sport both on and off the track. We have followed the progress of each British driver in these new championships with great interest, and I wish them all well for the coming seasons."
