Young Canadian kart racer Thomas Nepveu contested a first race in Europe this past weekend as part of the BirelArt squadron.

Thomas Nepveu from Oka, Québec has raced karts since his tender age and scored brilliant results at the recent Florida Winter Tour by Rok Cup USA. Nepveu claimed victory at the Orlando Kart Center in the Junior class, winning from Brazilian Matheus Morgatto by 1.852 seconds.

Nepveu recently flew to Europe and started testing his now mount in Europe. Last week, he took part in the WSK Super Master Series’ race held at the Sarno circuit, Italy.

Competing in the OK-Junior category, the young Canadian had everything to discover: the category, the tires, the track and his opponents.

Driving his BirelArt/TM Racing/Vega, he managed to recover from his disappointing 56th time in qualifying to 15th place in the final among the 81 participants, despite a three-second time penalty for “incorrect installation of the front fairing or incorrect position of the front fairing”.

"We proved in Sarno that our potential in OK-Junior is very real," declared Davide Foré, Birel ART Racing Team Manager. "Yet, the qualifying sessions did not go very well, especially after our very good free practice performances. Our drivers completed strong heats to put themselves in better positions. The rise of Tomas Nepveu was remarkable.”
