St-Eustache, June 30th . -- The Lacroix racing team will be happy to stay home for a few weeks after traveling so much in the month of June. After Pointe du Lac, an exposition over the Formula One weekend, a drive to Elkhart Lake and Thetford Mines, a bit of holidays won't hurt! Young Kevin was back in the Coupe du Quebec ICA class last weekend, the third round of the championship. Qualifying session was rather short when the engine of the CRG machine blew up in smoke. Starting last of the prefinal grid, Kevin elbowed his way up to fourth place and inched his little banger up in first place by the end of the final. Kevin now enjoys a more comfortable lead atop of the ICA Coupe du Quebec class.
From last to first !
Such is the rule in Motorsport : when you cannot record a single quick lap, you're bound to start from behind. When Kevin took the track, his machine did not even last a whole lap and he had to sit the remainder of the session.
At the green flag in the prefinal, he easily passed back markers and settled for fourth place when he ran out of laps. " My machine was good, say the youngster, but we didn't have time to setup to my expectations. But I guess in the circumstances, fourth place is all right. It looks good for the final"
In the final, starting fourth, Lacroix had enough laps to reel in the front runners. "When I finally took the lead, another competitor blew his engine and there was antifreeze on the track causing a red flag. I was second at the restart according to the ruling and I went under Gabriel Genest to move ahead for good."
In doing so, Kevin stretches his lead in the ICA standings in front of his archrival, Maxime Longtin.
Some rest before Grand-Mère
Since school is out, Kevin will use the next weeks to get away from karting and enjoy some holidays. He, his father Sylvain and PSL Karting will meet again in Grand-Mère for the next round in the Coupe du Quebec in two weeks before they all travel to Illinois for the third round of the Stars of Tomorrow series at the Trane Motor Speedway facility.
The team behind the driver
