Mohsin, who won last year’s Asia Karting Championship, was competing in the Mini Max category for Uniq Racing Team, the same squad with which he raced in Rotax Euro Finale in 2016.

Despite this being only his fourth weekend in European karting, Mohsin put his kart on pole position with a lap time of 58.408s.

Racing against a grid of 20 karters of varied nationalities, Mohsin finished third in pre-finals, four seconds behind race winner Jerzy Spinkiewicz and runner-up Tobias Poschik.

He went one better in the finals, finishing right on the tail of Bence Valint, who secured the victory with a slender margin of 0.892s.

In the 16-lap super finals, Mohsin was once again fighting for the top spots, but fell short of a race finish. He was classified third behind Valint and Spinkiewicz.

“This is a trophy I am going to cherish for a long time,” Mohsin said. “We haven’t had the luck on our side in Europe so far but this weekend everything just went to plan."

“We had a good setup, we were able to stick to our programme and improve all the time.

“The race was relatively incident-free even though there were a few close calls given the stiff competition.

“We had the speed to win today but given the way things have gone in the past few races, we just chose to dial it back a notch and bring it home. Finishing second is a good result overall and that’s all that matters,” he added.
