Wiles wins Path Valley Kart Fall National.

Spring Run, PA_ While Randy Burkholder and Missy Ciucci raced wheel to wheel swapping back and forward for second place, Danny Wiles of Jefferson MD, near Frederick, took the Path Valley Fall Kart National Championship by about 40 feet.

Wiles pocketed $250 for his win, which was his second of the day and fourth straight at Path Valley. Windsor's Electric and Builder's First Choice sponsor his #17 kart. His first win of the day was in the Heavy 'boxstock' class and puts him into a virtual photo finish for the class championship with past state champion Matt Dalesio. The big fall race for all the stock karts at a common weight minimum paid back 100 percent of entry fees.

In the day's regular features, additional double class winners were Garrett Kuhns in both the Lite and Jr. Stock classes and Alex Benda who won in both Jr. Sportsman I and Jr. Sportsman II.

The final points race for the Saturday karts and quads at Path Valley is Sept. 21. A totally new event for Path Valley is a Saturday Night Finale for the Path Valley karters with the Burris SpecTrak tire rule waived except for the Champ caged classes and WKA tech rules in effect. Payback will be 75 percent of entry fees for the senior kart classes and 50 percent in the junior classes.

Tickets are now available at the track for the annual awards banquet Nov. 23 at the Pleasant Hall Fire Company. Doors open at 3 p.m. for the kart and quad awards, followed by the dinner with doors opening at 5 p.m. for sprint and car teams and the stock car and sprint awards following the catered feast.

The Path Valley Speedway Park is located in Spring Run PA a mile north on PA Route 641 from the intersection with PA Route 75, halfway between Port Royal and Hagerstown. It is five miles east from the Willow Hill Exit 14 of the PA Turnpike. The new phone number at the track for promoter Ken Geesey is 717-349-7111.

For information on the 2002 schedule and track, race teams and fans can call the owners at 717-426-4756 or 717-426-2910, consult the website at www.pathvalley.com, or they can email them at twp@pathvalley.com.
