ALLEN SCORES FIRST PROKART CHALLENGE VICTORY THANKS TO TEAM ALUMINOS

Aluminos scores 1-2 finish in the S4 category as the Aluminos drivers continue to show strength at the front of grids during round 4 of ProKart Challenge South at the Streets

ROSAMOND, CA (May 15, 2010) - Scoring that first victory is a memory you won't forget. For Team Aluminos driver Jonathon Allen, that moment occurred on May 15 at the SKUSA ProKart Challenge South event. Competing on the 1.8-mile Streets of Willow facility for the program's only 'road racing' course on the schedule, Allen stayed in the hunt throughout the day and struck when it counted to earn his first checkered flag of the series. The Team Aluminos driver roster brought home a four top-five finishes, including a 1-2 in the highly contested S4 category.

Under the watchful eyes of team manager, Rob Soares, driving coaches/tuners of Tom Dyer and Fritz Leesmann and engine tuner George Tavares, Allen led the Aluminos S4 trio in the qualifying session, posting the fifth best time with Phil Dunford and Peter Workum sitting sixth and seventh. The opening heat race witnessed Dunford taking over for the team, running as high as second before dropping to fourth. Allen held strong in fifth with Workum gaining one spot in sixth. The frenzy racing action continued into heat two as the trio battled once again within the top-five. Dunford once again ran second early on but fell back to fifth with Allen moving up fourth. Workum was slow off the line, dropping to eighth in the final race order.

Heading into the 16-lap main event, the Aluminos crew was poised to stand on the podium. Once the green flag waved, the trio ran in line to work together as the race progressed, inching closer to the front. With just a few laps remaining, the trio was among the lead group. After receiving the two laps to go signal, the leader spun in the slowest section of the track leaving the pack to scatter around. Coming around for the white flag, Allen found himself in the second spot with Workum on his bumper. The two worked together, overtaking the leader and gaining the checkered flag for the 1-2 finish. Dunford avoided the incident to cross the line fifth to put three Aluminos drivers inside the top-five.

"Jonathon did a great job today," stated Aluminos manager Rob Soares. "He has some experience with road racing and this was the perfect opportunity for him to score his first series win. Our guys under the tent gave him the kart and power to put him in the front group, but he drove it to victory. I'm happy for him and the rest of the group after a solid day."

Brad Dunford was well on his way to his third podium performance of the year in the S1 Pro Stock Moto division. Running a solid third throughout the day, Dunford was on the attack early in the 16-lap main event. Looking to gain another position on lap three, Dunford spun while making the maneuver. Able to continue on, Dunford fell to the tail of the lead lap but held on to finish fourth in class.

Team Aluminos will return home to the Infineon Raceway facility for the fourth round of the ProKart Challenge North program, set for June 11-12 at the Jim Russell International Karting Center. The Northern California based-operation is continuing to build up for solid attack at the second round of the Superkarts! USA North American Pro Tour, the SKUSA SummerNationals, set for July 16-18 at the challenging USA International Raceway in Shawano, WI.
