St. Johns PA. . . . . Jr. caged Kart racer Shayne Balliet had high hopes of regaining his points lead Sunday afternoon, as he only trailed Josh Labatch by 5 points. But high hopes would go to bad times as Balliet went 3 wide going into turn one to try and take the lead, when contact between Labtach and Balliet sent Balliet hard into the turn 1 wall. Balliet who was complaining of severe back and foot pain was rushed to Hazleton General Hospital by the Butler Twp. ambulance. X-rays were taken of Balliet's back and left foot, good news was that the back x-ray's were negative but he may have fractured a bone in his foot. Balliet was released a few hours later and left the hospital on crutches. Shayne plans on returning to the speedway this coming Sunday afternoon in his back-up kart. Josh Labatch went on to take the win followed by Jen Care.

The always competitive Mini-Cup cars were in town for the second time this season. With cars painted like Dale Jarrett and Dale Earnhardt, it looked like a Winston cup race. Drafting back and fourth and dicing for the lead, these guy's put on a show just like the big boy's. The 88 of Damon Podulka went on to take the win over the A&R building supply car of Jim Ayre. Greg Losch scored another Brigg's heavy win at the speedway. John Hoffman of Freeland Pa. returned to the speedway this week, and was able to move closer towards taking the points lead by winning the Briggs medium class Joe Hogan finished second. Pat Koller, driving his lightening fast #1 mount has built quite a points lead by winning the last three weeks in a row in the Briggs light class. Mark Williams returned to the speedway after a 3 week lay-off to win both the adult caged 375 and 425 classes. The 2-cycle class saw the DaCosta brother Brian and Mark bump drafting during the feature event, Brian went on to take the win.
