SKUSA GREAT LAKES PRO TOUR SET FOR ROUND THREE
Series heads to Gingerman Raceway for first of two road racing events
SOUTH HAVEN, MI (May 11, 2007) - This weekend, the SKUSA Great Lakes Pro Tour Presented by Bridgestone (GLSKUSA) will host the third round of its 2007 season at the 1.88-mile Gingerman Raceway, located just outside South Haven, MI. After rainy May conditions at the series' doubleheader opening weekend in New Castle, IN forced of all racing action into one day, competitors are hoping for a bright and sunny weekend at the road course alongside Lake Michigan.
This weekend is a joint event with the Championship Enduro Series (CES) road racing organization, as the two groups have had a successful partnership over the last few years that have included two weekends running together. This opportunity gives sprint racers who typically run on the mile or less circuits a chance to stretch out their horsepower legs and get some Talladega-style drafting experience. On the flip side, the road racing group has a chance to run with the ultra-competitive GLSKUSA series, getting some extra seat time in the process.
"The relationship with Dave Larson and the CES has been a win-win for us both," commented series director Terry Riggins. "Our drivers get a chance to run with his group and his drivers have a chance to experience running our program, all in the same weekend. It's a great chance to match some of the best sprint and road racing drivers in one race."
Friday will see a full day of practice for all drivers with the regular CES race program to run all day on Saturday. On Sunday, the eight GLSKUSA divisions will be spread throughout the day with the Junior categories (TaG, K2 & K3) and TaG classes (Senior and Masters) running at the same time with the CES race groups, while the Senior shifter classes (S1, S3, & G1) will run their main event mid-way through the CES race groups, having the track to themselves.
Along with Bridgestone, the series is also supported by K&N Filters, The Inside Track Magazine, Grand Products, National Karting Alliance, Alden Engines, Krahl Construction, J&E Trackside Support, First Kart USA and Streeter Super Stands.
