Shawano Round to Wrap up East Division for the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by the IRL

Seattle, WA (August 3, 2006 ): This weekend the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by the Indy Racing League heads to Shawano, Wisconsin to wrap up their East Division schedule at the impressive USA International Raceway. The promotional team in Shawano has lined up a Wisconsin-style Brat Fry for all the racers on Friday evening, with a car show and live music to accompany the racing on Sunday at the still-growing motorsports and entertainment complex.

The weather is forecasted to be clear and warm all weekend with a slight chance of rain on Sunday. However, the rain on Wednesday reminded all the teams of the chance for some treacherous conditions on the hilly sweeper-filled track. The intensity is sure to be high as drivers from the East Division battle for points heading into the series finals at the Woodbine Grand Prix in Ontario, September 22-24.

On top of the points in the Cytomax ICC (shifter) class is Phil Geibler (G Phactory Champion Intrepid) who is a favorite for the weekend after a great weekend at Lowe's Motor Speedway that saw him dominate both days, with only some tough luck on the last lap of Saturday's final avoiding him from sweeping both rounds at Charlotte. Not far behind is Wesley Boswell (MRP Birel America) and Stuart Marsell (BTK Arrow Racing) in second and third respectfully. Jordy Vorrath (Leading Edge/ Champion Intrepid) is looking to add to his win tally after a disappointing weekend at Lowe's Motor Speedway. The non-stop action from this class is sure to keep the captive crowd at USA International on their feet.

In the ICA (direct drive) class there is less than 100 points that separate the top three drivers. First in the points standings is Jake Rosenzweig (PSL Karting CRG) followed by Caleb Loniewski (Margay) and Joel Miller (Tony Kart). The frequently fast Joel Miller (Tony Kart) hopes to add another victory in order to make a jump in the points. However, he will have to get around the consistent Jake Rosenzweig (PSL Karting CRG) who sits in first with no wins to date this season, but a slew of podium finishes.

The favorites for this weekend in the Spec racer class would have to be Adam Johnson (TopKart) and Brandon Adkins (Margay) who sit first and second in the points standings respectfully. Sitting third in points is Eric Gerrits (First Kart). Brandon Jones (Arrow) rounds out the top four drivers in the points. There is only a little over 100 points that separate these drivers and the Shawano track should provide a great venue for these three to duke it out for the Eastern title.

Brett Smrz (First Kart) is in control of the points standings in the PCH Motorsports JICA class and is looking for his second victory in the East Division in order to secure the East Division title. Tied for second is Garrison Masters (PSL Karting CRG) and Dusty Davis (Maranello). Second through seventh are all fairly close in points. As always, these adolescent hot shoes typically provide some of the most edge-of-the-seat racing action seen throughout the weekend. Carlos Munoz (Birel) hopes to perform well after a victory on Sunday at Lowe's Motor Speedway in order to move up in points.

In the King Taco Cadet class the top four drivers in the class are only separated by a forty point spread as the battle for the East Division title. The East Division Champ in the class will receive an all-expense paid trip to a 2007 IRL event for themselves and a companion courtesy of King Taco. In first is Gabriel Chaves (Nevoso Kart) with 384 points. Not far behind him is Oscar Tunjo (Nevoso Kart), Sage Karam (Birel), and Sebastian Ordonez (Nevoso Kart). Although he is not in the top four the man on the move is Tristan DeGrand (Kosmic) who would have to be the favorite this weekend after a second place finish on Saturday and a first place finish on Sunday at Lowe's Motor Speedway, and even though luck has not gone his way this season Spencer Pigot (Juncos) won here last year and is always at the sharp end of the grid.

As the season wears down the action is sure to be tight in Wisconsin this weekend.
