NICK NERI SCORES TWO VICTORIES AND TWO CHAMPIONSHIPS
"Domination describes Neri's WKA Florida divisional results"

June 16, 2009 -- Ocala Gran Prix (OGP) pilot and Florida resident Nick Neri claimed two victories this past weekend at the Florida Karting Championship Series (FKCS) event in central Florida. Running on his home facility in Ocala, Neri dominated both the HPV Junior and Yamaha Junior classes and in doing so, claimed the FKCS Championship and divisional point transfers to the World Karting Association Manufacturer's Cup program.

Neri was almost a picture of perfection throughout the weekend claiming one pole position, two heat race wins and two main event victories aboard his Pitts Performance powered Tony Kart.

Saturday greeted the OGP driver with very hot and humid conditions, but Neri took it all in stride. Staying hydrated throughout the day was tough and was a necessity to perform and function properly when behind the wheel. After the two opening warm-up sessions and some minor chassis tuning before qualifying, Neri posted the quickest time of the session as he was able to pace the field around the OGP facility.

After claiming the heat race victory by a large margin, the main event looked as if it was a carbon copy to the prefinal as Neri drove away from his rivals. With the fastest lap of the event and consistency of a professional, Neri opened a large gap before claiming the checkers. With the victory added to his three wins from the opening rounds of the series, Neri managed to claim the HPV Junior Championship with one race remaining.

Sunday would provide some tougher action for Neri as he competed in the lower horsepower Yamaha Junior class. Looking to repeat his Saturday success, Neri had a chance at the pole position but came up short as he missed the top spot by a scant .005 of a second. Determined to lead the field in results for the rest of the day, Neri worked with the pole sitter in the prefinal as the duo drew away from the field. Drafting for the first eleven of twelve laps, Neri sat on the leader's bumper and never attempted to make a pass. Looking as if he would settle for the second spot, the leader drove a defensive line on the final circuit leaving him vulnerable for a pass if the Tony Kart pilot could maintain his momentum. Neri pulled the trigger with four corners remaining and managed to hang on for the win.

With the heat race victory, Neri would start the main event from the pole position and never look back. Taking the lead as he entered the first corner, the OGP powered driver drove away from the field to take another win and another championship.

Nick Neri would like to thank his all of his 2009 supporters: Ocala Gran Prix, Tony Kart Florida, Pitts Performance, Alpinestars and his tuner Kyle Kraus.
