Peltier sweeps both races at Virgina International raceway.

DANVILLE, VA - Preston Peltier padded his points lead, and embarrassed the competition Saturday as he won the World Karting Association round 4 at the Virginia International Raceway

The weekend started out good as once again the CKT karts were fast right out of the box. Peltier turned a 138.004 the first time on the track. Due to changing track conditions and an ailing motor, throughout the day his kart progressively got slower and slower. Saturday morning, Jim Perry of CKT racing engines quickly solved the problem. With a few chassis adjustments and a new top end on the motor, Peltier set a blistering pace and picked up 2.5 seconds with a lap of 135.565.

Peltier started Saturdays WKA sprint 1 in the fourth position of the 15 kart field. The moment the green flag dropped Peltier rocketed off the line closely following Corey Clayton, and Jason Ellis. Peltier patiently waited to make his move until the end of the front stretch heading into turn one, quickly moving around Jason Ellis, Peltier took the lead on the second lap never to look back winning by incredible 38 seconds over his teammate Cory Clayton.

WKA sprint 2 started out with intense racing as Peltier got off to a slow start. After over shooting turn 2 and nearly running off the course, he quickly caught the front runners.

Perry (crew chief) reminded Peltier just how fast his kart was and to take his time. Peltier worked his way through traffic and passed Ellis for the lead as Clayton latched on to his bumper to take second from Eills. Peltier sprinted to 14 second lead to win the race over second place Corey Clayton. "We dodged a bullet this weekend." Peltier claimed.

"Both races we blistered the front tires, the same thing that caused us to lose a race at Mid Ohio."

The CKT race team heads to Road America June 14 - 16 for the Super Nationals, hosted by the Badger Kart Club. Two weeks later they will be at the New Hampshire International speedway for round 5 of the World Karting Association 125 sprint shifters. Peltier is backed by CKT Racing Engines, Azzurro Wheels, and, MG Tires.
