Bunker wins three in the rain.

CHARLOTTE, NC-Robert Bunker of Bridgewater, NJ swept a trio of classes on a rain soaked road course inside turns three and four of Lowe's Motor Speedway near Charlotte, NC during round two of the WKA/George Kugler Manufacturer's Cup Series Presented by Bridgestone Nevoso Kart Winter Nationals March 15-16 that drew 509 entries.

Baker, a Woltjer Racing Engines powered Margay kart pilot, began his assault on the 6/10-mile 15-turn road course with a dominating 20.390-seconds win over fellow New Jersey race Thomas Hartensveld, of Ringwood, in Horstman Manufacturing HPV Junior that Saturday. He backed it up with another win later that day in JN Racing, Inc. Formula Yamaha Junior beating Kyle Rahal, of Glen Ellyn, IL to the stripe by 9.196-seconds. He returned Sunday to take Matt-Con Services Corp Yamaha Junior SuperCan with a 19.724 advantage over Dominic Sheer.

"We really had the Margay kart set up good. We had a little engine trouble, got it fixed and in a way the rain worked to our advantage in a good way," Bunker said. "I just had to run really smooth and find a line that worked for me and I had a great crew behind me and I want to thank everybody that helped me this weekend."

In HPV Junior Bunker battled his way from an 18th place starting position to take the Pre-Final win 18.165 seconds ahead of Jacob Little. Matthew Lee turned a 44.332 seconds lap for Formula Yamaha Junior's pole, Bunker started sixth in Pre-Final, which is where he finished that race, then Sunday he cranked out a 54.795 seconds lap for Yamaha Junior SuperCan's top starting position.

Anthony Llopiz and Mark Dismore were double winners that weekend. Llopiz led a field of 24 across Custom Trophy Yamaha Junior Sportsman's stripe with Derrick Griffin trailing him by 13.904 seconds. Tony Kart pilot Jordan Johnson topped qualifying with a 49.099 seconds run and was just 1.156 seconds behind Llopez at the Pre-Final's finish.

Sunday Llopez took all Express Karts N Parts HPV Junior Sportsman had to offer. The 12-year-old Fort Lee, NJ based Pitts Performance Racing Engines powered Biesse kart pilot posted the pole time with a 56.477 seconds lap and continued on sweeping the Pre-Final and Final with Christian Pahud behind him each time. Pahud trailed Llopiz by 4.231 seconds in the Pre-Final and by 4.290 seconds in the Final.

"I like racing in the rain the kart was working good and the motor was great," Llopez said.

After working his way from a sixth place start in Laukatis Racing Yamaha Heavy Dismore reached second and then got by race leader Kevin Nelson, a Switch Racing Engines powered Margay kart pilot, in the final laps beating him to the finish by 8.636 seconds.

"I was following Kevin (Nelson) and didn't want to be premature passing him because he was strong in the S's so I worked on him until I knew I could pass him and stay in the lead," Dismore described adding thanks to Comet Kart Sales for the motor that powered his Edge kart, Bridgestone Tires, RLV and the crew that helped him over the weekend.

Dismore was recognized as the official winner of MCP Brake Systems Yamaha Lite when race winner Tony Loniewski was disqualified after post race technical inspection. Loniewski earned the pole with a 53.485 seconds lap and owned a 2.408 seconds advantage over Christopher Larson at the Pre-Final's end and was just 1.432 seconds ahead of Dismore at the Finals finish.

"I should have won on the track," said Dismore, "I got together with Corey Reeves and fell to tenth and got back up to fifth. I passed (Christopher) Larson and then Caleb Loniewski spun and I picked up third and I spun myself and lost four seconds and then got back up there and then it came down to the last turn on the last lap and I should have gotten it there."
