SEASON'S RANKING AFTER THREE ROUNDS
An up-to-the-minute account of the WSK rankings.
In SKF, Cesetti (Birel-Parilla) leads drivers' ranking as well as Birel Motorsport EuroCup's ranking. In KF2, both Viganò (Birel-Parilla) and Tony Kart Junior Team are leaders whereas Kvyat (Tony Kart-Vortex) along with Morsicani Racing are at the top in KF3.
Castelletto di Branduzzo (I), april 14th, 2009
The shortlist for the WSK titles is taking shape. After the third round in Castelletto di Branduzzo (I), a first shortlist for the top of the rankings in the WSK International Series, is taking shape. The central moment of the season at the Belgian circuit in Genk, that is the location for the next round on June 14, is drawing close. In the Flamish track, Super KF will let KZ2 compete, with Dutch Bas Lammers (Intrepid-TM-Vega) leading drivers' ranking and Intrepid Kart Technology at the top in EuroCup.
Cesetti paints the Super KF Birel red. Birel Motorsport team leaves the "7 Laghi", in Castelletto, getting the maximum score in the Top Class: seventeen Czech Libor Toman's win as well as Sauro Cesetti's third place in Super KF (both on a Birel-Parilla-Bridgestone), consolidate the leadership of the Factory in Lissone, above CRG and Maranello Kart. In drivers' ranking, Cesetti holds his leadership, by increasing his lead over Arnaud Kozlinski (CRG-Maxter-Bridgestone) who achieved a good fifth place. The driver from Bordeaux ties for second place with Toman, after his win in Castelletto. The liveliness of this class is supported by the performance of sixteen Finnish Aaro Vainio (Maranello-Maxter-Bridgestone) who, thanks to an excellent second place achieved at the 7 Laghi, follows now the leading trio by a 30 point gap from Cesetti (a win awards 45 points).
In KF2 Viganò holds out, Tony Kart Junior T. progresses. Swedish Mans Grenhagen (Energy-TM-Bridgestone) thanks to the win in Castelletto, improves his position in KF2 drivers' ranking where Matteo Viganò from Bergamo (Birel-Parilla-Bridgestone), despite an unlucky race, is always at the top. The driver from Stockholm rises up to the third position, below English Ben Cooper (Tony Kart-Vortex-Bridgestone) that through a fourth place achieved at the 7 Laghi, concurs to hold his Tony Kart Junior Team at the top in EuroCup. In the same ranking, below Paul Spencer's team there are MGM Racing and Energy Corse.
Kvyat and Morsicani have a steady lead in KF3. The win in Castelletto, by scoring as many as 30 points, enables Dutch Nick De Vries (Zanardi-Parilla-Dunlop) to close the gap with Russian Daniil Kvyat. The Muscovite driver remains in KF3 lead, followed by De Vries and Spanish Carlos Sainz (Tony Kart-Vortex-Dunlop) who competed for long to win at the circuit from Pavia. In EuroCup, Morsicani Racing is always the leader thanks to its drivers Kvyat and Roman Damiano Fioravanti, fifth at the 7 Laghi. Tony Kart Junior Team gains two positions and rises up to second, being in close challenge against Chiesa Corse that is third at only one point gap.
