Briscoe: We can fight for Le Mans victory
Ryan Briscoe undertakes his first Le Mans in the LMGTE Pro class this weekend, and believes that he and Corvette have a good chance of fighting for victory.

“We have made some really good engine performance gains in the last 12 months,” Briscoe told Motorsport.com today.
“We are feeling confident arriving here but the one thing I am not sure on is the wet weather situation for us, and how our pace will be compared to others if there is a lot of rain.
“Michelin have brought a new wet tyre and we got to run that at the test here and it felt amazing, really good. The guys said it felt way better than they had experienced before so this is a positive for us.
“We have a great chance of mixing it at the front and fighting for the win.”
Briscoe’s only other experience of Le Mans came in 2013 when he raced a Level 5 HPD in LMP2. Now, the 33-year-old Australian is getting used to a different challenge in traffic with the GTE-spec Chevrolet Corvette C7R.
“The most difficult thing in regards to what you see behind you is whether it is an LMP2 or LMP1 car,” he continued.
“You soon find out if it is an LMP1 though because they come past you so damn quick. The LMP2 cars can follow you for over half a lap quite closely. They are better in the high downforce corners whereas we are just as good in the slow speed turns.
“We’ve got some great technology on the car with a rear camera and radar so we can identify them quite quickly so this obviously really helps.”
Briscoe will share the #63 Corvette Racing-GM car with team-mates Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia.
