Ford GT video – Fitness and preparing for Le Mans
How Ford drivers prepare for world’s most gruelling race: Le Mans 24 Hours
This year – 50 years after our legendary 1-2-3 finish at the 1966 Le Mans 24 Hours – Ford returns to Le Mans with the all-new Ford GT race car in the 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship.
With drivers racing flat out for the full 24 hours, to say the Le Mans 24 Hours is extremely demanding, is something of an understatement.
Watch Ford Chip Ganassi Racing drivers Harry Tincknell and Stefan Mücke as they reveal the physical and mental pressures they will endure in the quest for victory. Performance Consultant Tom Clark and Ford’s Health Specialist at Le Mans Chris Williams explain the importance of ergonomics, nutrition and exercise – a fascinating insight into just what it takes to prepare for this epic test of man and machine.
Four Ford GT race cars will compete at Le Mans this year, each with a team of three drivers. While one driver is in the car, the one he has replaced will quickly grab a bite to eat and then try to grab some sleep. The driver who is up next will be preparing for their stint at the wheel.
