CRS SETS SIGHTS ON IMOLA PODIUM

CRS Racing heads to Imola this weekend for the Italian round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup and Le Mans Series, where it will run both of its Ferrari 430s in the GTE-Am class.

After showing an impressive turn of pace at Le Mans, the drivers of Ferrari No.62, are on the hunt for a podium finish at Imola. For Pierre Ehret, Shaun Lynn and Roger Wills, this is their first time back in the CRS Ferrari since Le Mans so they will be looking for a good result.

“Most importantly, we have to finish,” said Wills. “With non-finishes in Sebring and also at Le Mans, we really have to get to the chequered flag this time. Then the priority is to go for the podium and collect some much-needed points. We have had very good race pace in all three events so far but failed to turn this into strong finishes. I really hope we can change that at Imola and get onto the podium.”

“I've not raced at Imola before but have spent a fair bit of time watching in-car footage to learn my way around,” he continued. “There are a lot of fast sections and heavy braking so it’s going to take some time to build up and gain confidence as I learn the circuit. I understand it can be very warm too and tyre degradation will play a part as to whether it is possible to double stint tyres for race strategy. I'm really looking forward to it and excited about racing for the first time at one of the great race circuits of the world, with such a lot of history.”

The race is going to be tricky.

Their toughest competition is likely to come from the other side of the CRS garage, as the drivers of the No.82 Ferrari - Klaas Hummel, Adam Christodoulou and Phil Quaife - are hungry for their first podium of 2011 too.

“We know that we have a good car and we have a good team behind us,” said Quaife. “We have the pace and we were in contention for the win at Ricard and definitely on for a podium at Spa. Imola is a new circuit for myself and Adam but Klaas raced there in GT Open last year so he has a head start on us. We’ve been learning the circuit on the simulator and also watched the in-car footage from the GT Open race last year, which gives us a good idea of what to expect. We have all been given some extra practice time which is great as it means all three drivers have time to get up to speed.”

“The race is going to be tricky,” he continued. “I hear it's a narrow track so it will be hard to deal with the traffic. Everyone says it's a great track so we’re going to go for it and hopefully finish up on the podium.”
