ARDC Adds Race at Evergreen Raceway

Evergreen Raceway Added To ARDC CARQUEST Midget Schedule

The American Racing Drivers Club (ARDC) CARQUEST Midgets have added Evergreen Raceway in St. John's, Pa. to their 1998 racing schedule. That date is Sunday, June 7. This race marks a return for ARDC to the track in the mountains of Pennsylvania that has a long history of great racing.

According to the ARDC Race Summary Record Book, the last time ARDC Midgets ran at Evergreen Raceway was in 1992. Two races were run under the ARDC sanction that year. Drew Fornoro was the winner on June 13, 1992 and Lou Cicconi, Jr. won on July 18, 1992.

The ARDC CARQUEST Midget Racing Series grows to 19 races with the addition of Evergreen to the schedule. Ten races will now be contested on asphalt and nine on dirt. Evergreen Raceway's Race Director, Steve Fox, said, "The growth at Evergreen in the past few years has been spectacular. With the long history of this racetrack and the rich tradition of ARDC, this is a good match. The fans at Evergreen will be excited to see the return of open cockpit racing." Evergreen Raceway is a slightly banked 1/3-mile asphalt oval that features Modifieds, Pro Stocks and Late Models as weekly divisions.
