ARDC CARQUEST Midgets to Visit Challenger Raceway

KENT, Pa., Jan. 13 - The American Racing Drivers Club (ARDC) CARQUEST Midget Series will make its first appearance ever at Challenger Raceway in Kent, Pa., on Saturday night, Sept. 18.

The track is a four-tenth mile slightly banked clay oval.

Challenger is located 7.1 miles southwest of U.S. 422 on S.R. 286, and then 1.1 mile north. It is approximately 1 mile south of McIntyre, Pa., a small town near Indiana, Pa.

The stars and cars of the ARDC CARQUEST Midget Series will join the late models and strictly stocks on the card that night. The pit gate is scheduled to open at 5:30 p.m., with the racing action beginning at 7:30 p.m.

"Dave Kittey of RPM Racing News recommended ARDC to us, and we're looking forward to their visit," said Donna Lentz, co-promoter.

"We enjoy visiting Western Pennsylvania and we're pleased to add a new venue to our schedule," added Mike Roselli, ARDC's booking agent.

ARDC is in the midst of a two-year 60th anniversary celebration, as it was formed in 1939 and it sanctioned its first race on May 15, 1940.

In that time period it has earned a reputation as one of the most competitive sanctioning bodies in the nation. Last year Bryan Kobylarz of Birdsboro, Pa., won the drivers' title by a single point over the defending champion, Ed Stimely Jr. of McVeytown, Pa.
