DEWEASE TO RUN A MIDGET WHEN ARDC VISITS THE GROVE
Hazleton, PA - Five-time Williams Grove Track Champion Lance Dewease has agreed to pull double-duty on Friday, May 13, when the American Racing Drivers Club (ARDC) Midgets do battle on the historic half-mile in Mechanicsburg, PA.
Dewease, who owns one career ARDC victory, is scheduled to wheel the Miller Racing Team, Beast chassied no. 00. While he claimed that lone triumph in May of 1999 at Williams Grove, Dewease is still a relative stranger to the midget division. He certainly knows his way around the Grove's big clay oval, though.
In addition to his five track titles, Dewease has captured three wins in each of Williams Grove's most prestigious events: the National Open (1996, 2001, and 2002), the Jack Gunn Memorial (1995, '96, and 2002), and the Mitch Smith Memorial ('95, '97, and 2001).
The Fayetteville, PA, throttle-jockey, who will turn 40 in October of this year, was inducted into the York County Racing Club Hall of Fame in 2003. He was also the fifth driver named to the list of 2005 Open Wheel Drivers of the Decade.
Dewease, who achieved numerous victories and milestones aboard the Walt Dyer no. 461, the Joe Harz no. 88H, and the Al Hamilton no. 77, currently campaigns the Pete Postupak no. 25 on the central Pennsylvania 410 Sprint Car circuit.
Dewease will join ARDC regulars Ray Bull (the five-time and defending champion), Mike Miller along with his daughters Tracy and Michele, Steve Buckwalter, former champions Ed Stimely, Jr. and Bryan Kobylarz, Donnie Trent, Frank Polimeda, and many others in search of glory at the Grove.
The midgets will compete in qualifying heats and a 20-lap feature. The Yetter Racing Team and driver Ed Stimely, Jr. will have their midget on display before the races at Williams Grove. Fans will be able to get a close-up view of the car, and Stimely will be available for autographs and photos.
