O'Reilly Chili Bowl Entry Count Climbs to 226!

TULSA, Okla. (December 20, 2004) -- Santa's mailroom has nothing on the offices of the Tulsa Expo Raceway, as entries for the upcoming 19th Annual O'Reilly Chili Bowl Midget Nationals continue to stream in. The four-day Super Bowl of auto racing is set for January 5-8, 2005, inside the cozy confines of the Tulsa Expo Center.

Bolstering the record 226 Chili Bowl entries received thus far, with more expected over the next two weeks, are another 874 entries for the 20th Anniversary of the Tulsa Shootout, a virtual auto racing smorgasbord featuring Micros, Karts and Quads at Tulsa Expo Raceway the previous weekend, December 31 and January 1.

After the stars of tomorrow clear out of the Tulsa Expo Center upon the completion of the Tulsa Shootout, the O'Reilly Chili Bowl Midget Nationals offers up the sport's top stars from virtually every discipline.

NASCAR Nextel Cup stars Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne head the list of household name recognition. Steve Kinser and Danny Lasoski lead the winged sprint car contingent, with Jay Drake and two-time Chili Bowl champion Cory Kruseman leading the way for the wingless sprint corps, while Scott Hatton and Dan Boorse lead the ranks of Midget racing specialists.

The fendered ranks are well represented as well, with Bart Hartman and Rick Eckert among the dirt late model stars throwing their hats into the ring of Chili, with DIRT Modified ace Brett Hearn and DIRT Modified/dirt late model crossover Tim McCreadie in the mix as well. The straightline crowd isn't left out either, as NHRA star Cruz Pedregon takes to the quarter mile dirt oval for a shot at Chili Bowl fame.

Entrants for the Chili Bowl come from coast to coast across the nation, with no fewer than 25 track or series champions and hundreds of feature wins in 2004 alone represented. And for a little international flair, New Zealand champion Michael Pickens and Australian champion Adam Clarke will join in on the four night racing festival as well.

A half dozen past Chili Bowl champions are among the current entries, including two-time and defending Chili Bowl king Cory Kruseman of Ventura, CA. Milwaukee, WI, shoe Dan Boorse also enters the 2005 edition of the Chili Bowl with two coveted Golden Driller trophies already on the mantel. Other past winners include Indiana native Tony Stewart (2002), this year's USAC Sprint Car champion Jay Drake (2001), Johnny Heydenreich (1990) and 2004 BMARA Midget champion Scott Hatton (1988).

A limited number of tickets for Wednesday and Thursday night's qualifying action remain, with only pit passes available for Friday's qualifier and Saturday's finale. Four-night passes to the Pit Stop Caf0x00e9, affixed to the east end of the Tulsa Expo Center, are also available for $104.
