Skagit results 2005-06-25

JACOBSON RETURNS VICTORIOUS AT SKAGIT SPEEDWAY

It was two months ago that last years Budweiser 360 Series Sprint car champion Andy Jacobson had a disastrous wreck in turn two on the second night of racing for the 2005 season. Jacobson had injuries that shelved him for that entire time, and had him itching to get back in the drivers seat being kept warm for him by brother Travis Jacobson. Jacobson returned to winners circle the first night back leading all 25 laps of the main event. Also picking up main event wins were Lyle Woods in the Cook Road Shell Sportsman Sprints, Ryan Nootenboom in the Pioneer Ford Outlaw Hornets and Donnie Steele in the Northwest Sportsman Midgets. Richard Eldridge won the Berry Dairy Days Demo Derby.

Jacobson also won his heat race in the 360 Sprints, with Rod Perkins picking up the other heat race win. In the main event Jacobson was flawless, while behind him Dan Pierson had his best finish of the year taking second place with Hard Charger Barry Martinez finishing third, points leader Brandon Harkness was fourth and Bob Stevens came in fifth.

The Cook Road Shell Sportsman Sprints main event was slowed early on when Chris Rogers took a nasty tumble in turn two. When the race restarted Lyle Woods took command and was never seriously challenged. Second place went to Chris Pattenaude in a new car after a wild wreck two weeks ago, third went to Seth Bergman with rookie Colton Heath running fourth and second in points Jimmy Deitz finishing fifth. Special note to rookie Karl Blumenhagen with his best ever finish in 6th. The heat races were won by Pattenaude, Deitz and Woods. Kelsey Carpenter was Hard Charger with 13 positions gained.

For the first time the Northwest Sportsman Midgets made an appearance at Skagit Speedway. Donnie Steele won the 20-lap main.

Ryan Nootenboom won the Pioneer Ford Outlaw Hornet main event.
