Gresini Racing rider Sam Lowes, who is set to race for Aprilia in MotoGP in 2017, managed to close in on Pons, clocking the fastest lap of the final day in the final session, but was still 0.345s away from the Spaniard's time.

Lorenzo Baldassarri was third-quickest for the Forward Team, with 2015 Moto2 runner-up Alex Rins (Pons Racing) fourth, the duo both having set their best times in the final session of the test.

Takaaki Nakagami (Honda Team Asia), Jonas Folger (Intact GP), Sandro Cortese (Intact GP) and Marcel Schrotter (AGR Team) completed the combined top 10 of the test.

Overall, the top 12 was all filled by Kalex bikes.

The first of Speed Up bikes, that of factory rider Simone Corsi, was 13th, the Italian having set his quickest lap in the first session on Thursday.

Last year’s champion Johann Zarco (Ajo Motorsport) was 14th, 1.222s off Pons’ time.

2015 Moto3 champion Danny Kent was 12th fastest for Leopard Racing, with teammate and former title rival Miguel Oliveira was down at 23rd.

MotoGP champion Marc Marquez’s younger brother Alex took 15th, with Maverick Vinales’ cousin Isaac in 26th.
