Aspar Mahindra bank on new gearbox to deliver at Sachsenring

The Indian manufacturer is amid its best start to the season having had four podiums including a maiden world championship win in the last round at Assen.

In order to keep fighting with KTM and Honda this season, Mahindra will introduce a new gearbox in Germany to get closer to its rivals in the championship.

"I have had [the] chance to test the new Mahindra gearbox and it worked really well from the first moment," said Francesco Bagnaia.

However, the Italian who sits fourth in the standings, was cautious, not wanting to be overly excited, adding: "It is a step forward, although we still have a bit of work."

The VR46 academy rider is on a high after taking his maiden Moto3 win in Assen, but is vary of Sachsenring where he has struggled, with 30th his best result in three years.

"The track in Germany is quite difficult for me, personally. The bike this year seems very competitive and even though we struggled last year we could be fast this weekend," he said.

Meanwhile, teammate Jorge Martin who pulled out from the last round has thus recovered from his Barcelona crash and is ready to perform on a track where he has won races in Rookies Cup.

"I am really excited for the race in Germany. Even though I have been out for a month through injury I have been able to train very hard over the last few days," the Spanish rider said.

"Now I am looking forward to going to Sachsenring because it is one of my favourite tracks. I think we can do well there," he added.

With 91 points, Mahindra is close to crossing its 2015 tally of 120 points as they approach the halfway mark of the season.
