Aspar Mahindra's Dalla Porta aiming for first points in Austin
Lorenzo Dalla Porta is keen on scoring his and Aspar Mahindra’s first points of the season in Austin, admitting that “we haven't scored the results we expected” so far in 2017.
After a breakthrough 2016 season, the Mahindra-equipped teams have struggled to keep up with rivals Honda and KTM in the opening two rounds of the year.
But Dalla Porta is eager to get off the mark at the Circuit of the Americas, despite having never ridden around the Hermann Tilke-built facility.
“I am looking forward to racing again in America and putting the first couple of races behind me because we haven't scored the results we expected,” he said.
“Hopefully we can get back on the right lines here and pick up the points we deserve. I want to do a good job and show what I am capable of.
“It will be a new track and I will have to learn it quickly because I want to do well. I hope we can have some strong free practices and continue to improve so that we are competitive in qualifying and in the race.”
On the other side of the garage, Albert Arenas says he has fully recovered from the injuries sustained during a qualifying crash in Argentina.
“I went home after Argentina and took the opportunity to get over the bumps and bruises and my hand injury,” he said.
“I am happy that I'm 100% now and I feel I have trained well for Austin, so I am looking forward to discovering another new circuit and continuing to work with my team.”
