Assen Moto3: Bezzecchi puts Mahindra on second row
Marco Bezzecchi equalled Mahindra’s best qualifying result of the 2017 Moto3 season after setting the fifth fastest time at Assen.
Taking advantage of the MGP30’s strong front end in tricky wet conditions, Bezzecchi lapped the Dutch Circuit in 2m00.189s to book the middle spot on the second row of the grid.
Bezzecchi’s CIP teammate Manuel Pagliani made it two Mahindras in the top 10, the Italian qualifying ninth with a time of 2m00.826s.
Meanwhile, Jakub Kornfeil qualified 13th for Mahindra’s sister brand Peugeot, while Patrik Pulkkinen will line up 20th on the grid.
Factory-supported Aspar squad, however, struggled to cope up with a damp track, with Lorenzo Dalla Porta consigned to 24th on the grid after finishing FP3 in sixth place.
Albert Arenas’ replacement Raul Fernandes fared even worse and will have to start from the back of the pack in 31th position.
