Mahindra unveils 80% new Moto3 challenger

Although it continues to be christened as the MGP30, the bike has been thoroughly revamped and is fitted with an all-new power unit.

Upgrades have also been made on the aerodynamics and the electronics front, while more visibly, the MGP30 now comes with a twin-exhaust layout.

“It’s virtually a new bike and it’s been created in a record four months,’’ Mahindra Racing CEO Mufaddal Choonia told Motorsport.com.

“Lots of things have changed on the bike: it’s got a new powertrain, a highly modified chassis, and a completely new aerodynamic package. Lots of work has been done on electronics.

“We’ve done a lot of upgrades to intake and exhaust systems. Now you see a double exhaust as compared to the single exhaust we had till last year.”

“We’ve made huge changes. Virtually 80 percent of the bike is new. And that 80 percent constitutes the technical composition,’’ he concluded.

The MGP30 bike will be raced by four Moto3 outfits, including the factory Team Aspar squad.

In addition, two Peugeot-branded MGP30 bikes will also be seen on the grid this season, raced by the SaxoPrint squad.
