Crutchlow warns Honda riders could crash at any time

Crutchlow crashed out of qualifying for the Aragon race, as did the Repsol Honda of Dani Pedrosa while trying to beat pole-sitting teammate Marc Marquez – who dominated the session.

Marquez also fell today, in the morning’s FP3 session, and Crutchlow was left to rue missing out on a front-row starting spot due to his tumble.

“A stupid mistake,” said Crutchlow of his fall at Turn 1. “As always, as soon as we push a little bit more in the braking, we lock the front and crash.

“We’ve seen it with Marc this weekend, and also seen Dani today. This is the Honda for you at the moment.

“Overall, the pace is good. I’m really unhappy 'cause there was a missed opportunity there – quite an easy front row for me.

“I always go better in the second run than the first run. I scrapped the first run, I thought I’d push on the next run and I crashed in the first corner. Completely my own fault, sorry to the team.

“This is life, but this is also Honda.

“See how many times Dani crashed this year also, it’s not so good for that at this moment. But we’ll try again tomorrow, we’ve got a good pace – but Marc is on a different level.”

Dream qualifying for Marquez

After setting his sixth pole position of the season, Marquez’s only concern is the colder weather conditions that are forecast for tomorrow’s race.

“Today I felt really good,” said Marquez. “It is one of the races I feel best in of the year. It was hot so I was able to use the hard front tyre, which for me is always a good option.

“Tomorrow looks much colder, but I’m happy with today because the pace and the rhythm, which is most important, is good.”
