Rolfo maintains optimism and confidence with Valencia development progress

Valencia -- Spain, October 31, 2003. At the conclusion of the first qualifying session for the Community of Valencia GP Roberto Rolfo was both optimistic and confident about the final grand prix of the season on Sunday. Rolfo considers everything is developing progressively looking for the ideal set up in the same way as at recent races.

Rolfo ended the provisional qualifying session in seventh place and explained that the Fortuna Honda team had focussed their efforts on finding a good chassis set up to give the best response. During the day the team considerably improved the handling characteristics.

"Halfway through the qualifying session I began to feel comfortable on the bike because we had focussed our attention on looking for the optimum chassis set up which will allow me to put the bike where I want it to go. On this circuit it is vital to get into the corners precisely." Explained Rolfo.

"Even if the difference in lap times looks very important right now they are not, because the conditions during which practice was held were not a valid reference. There are riders who push hard looking for a lap time, others including me, have been looking for solutions to set up step by step." Asserted the sole challenger to Poggiali for the 250 title.

"In general the machine has progressed adequately and in normal conditions tomorrow we can continue to improve and put ourselves in a position to fight for the world title." Concluded Rolfo.

Rolfo recognised, in that sense, the best thing for him would be for it to rain on Sunday because wet conditions would make a level playing field. That could provide Rolfo with a small advantage.
