Ranseder-Comeback promising
The comeback of Austrian ace Michael Ranseder at the CBC Corse team was highly promising. The 23-year-old, who lost his seat in the 125cc world championships after British-Chinese team Haojue withdrew from the competition, showed his class in the free practice session on Sachsenring.
Although Ranseder's new Aprillia bike was only finished the previous night, the Austrian outpaced his new team mates Luca Marconi and Luca Vitali, lapping the track in 1:31.989 minutes to finish 28th overall.
"Considering my bike was only screwed together last night, I am quite happy with the performance. The heavy rain after 25 minutes kept us from improving on our lap time, but I am convinced, we will do so tomorrow," Ranseder said.
Standings leader Julian Simon (ESP, Aprilia) was fastest, ahead of fellow-countryman Marc Marquez (KTM) and Britain's Bradley Smith (Aprilia). The qualifying for the German GP will take place tomorrow 1 pm local time.
