The Italian was forced to miss the San Marino Grand Prix two weeks ago after he fractured the T3 vertebra in a high-speed crash during first practice.

He underwent a check-up on Thursday at Motorland and was given the green light to take part in the race.

However, the Ducati rider says he is still in a lot of pain when riding the bike, and will decide after Friday practice if he continues to ride this weekend.

"Tomorrow we'll understand the situation better," said Iannone on Thursday.

"I'll try to ride at my best on the first day, but it's very important to understand well my situation when I ride because, in case I have a lot of pain, for sure I won't ride this weekend."

When asked if the main worry was another crash or the pain, he said: "The pain. The problem is the pain. When I use this part of the body I have a lot of pain.

"So I don't know.

"Tomorrow we'll try our best and we'll understand the situation better, but I'm not making any promises because I'm not going to ride just to ride."

Iannone was replaced by Ducati tester Michele Pirro at Misano, and the Italian will be on stand-by at Aragon.
