TOM LUTHI ACHIEVES FIRST FASTEST LAP OF HISTORY IN THE MOTO2 CLASS

The Commercialbank Grand Prix of Qatar did not start off really fast for Tom Luthi and his team. The practice days caused a sleepless night ahead of the first race day of the 2010 season for Luthi. The warm up gave more hope for the first race. The work of Luthi's mechanics went defiantly in the right direction here as the Swiss finished the warm up as second.

Relieved Luthi started the race. From 16th spot on the grid he already was in 10th place after a few laps. Then Alex de Angelis crashed and his bike blocked the track, so Luthi had to get off the pace. Despite the difficulties he was able to set the first ever fastest lap time of the history of the new Moto2 class and finished seventh, which means he will leave Losail with his first nine championship points.

Tom Luthi, 7 -- 41'11.861:
I had a good start, could gain speed in the first laps already. Then De Angelis crashed and I had to step back a bit, the bike was partly on the track. The riders are so close in this class that this is not racing, this is war!

I am happy that despite the difficulties of the last days I had such a good result today and I also rode the fastest lap.

Terrell Thien, Team Manager:
I had headaches in the last couple of laps, but at the end I am satisfied. Tom started from 16 and finished seventh. That's great. The whole team did a good job and worked well what we could see in warm up. We know where we can be and I hope we will continue like that in Japan.
